BENFIELD FAMILY
The Benfields were in Studland and Corfe Castle parishes from the Sixteenth Century and probably before that.
Richard Benfield was the son of George and Jane and was baptized at Langton Church on Christmas Day 1807
George and his wife Jane had come to live in Langton after their marriage there in about 1789.
They had seven children:
Sarah, baptised 3.10.1790
Elizabeth, baptized 10.3.1793
Ann, baptized 12.4.1795
Mary, baptized 8.7.1798
George, batized 7.3.1802
Joseph, baptized 2.6.1805
Richard, baptized 25.12.1807
Ruth was born in 1810, but her marriage took place outside Langton. The children of Richard and Ruth (none of whom were baptized at Langton) were:
Maria, born 1836
Amos, born 1838
Susan, born 1840
Sarah, born 1842
Mary Anne, born 1845
Elizabeth, born 1849
Ellen Ruth
We do not know what happened to Amos. Richard's two brothers married and had children in Langton Matravers.
